Manip: cold grey hope (Buffy, Spike, worksafe)

A week or so ago, someone on sunnydalescribe prompted me with the words "cold", "grey", and "hope", and I took the opportunity to do two things: think about hope that is cold and grey, and take a first stab at making something banner-sized. I kept thinking I'd fix the background before reposting it anywhere, because the brightness is really subpar, but I didn't - so I'm dropping it here and tagging it with the tag that won't let me completely forget the thing exists.
