thenewbuzwuzzFor your irregularly scheduled Buffy content, here's a short rec list based on what I said on Facebook when someone asked for favorite friendship fics. I'm interpreting "friendship fic" as a mainly gen fic that focuses on friendships more than romantic ships.
There's pretty much nothing here that I haven't already recced at some point, especially if reccing any Barbverse story just counts as re-reccing the Barbverse (hey, I just noticed it's over a million words with the newest addition!! Is that amazing or what.)
* The_Eclectic_Bookworm on AO3 writes fabulous friendships (usually with Giles/Jenny and other romantic relationships mixed in, but the platonic Scooby love is always really strong).
The way I see Imperfections (T, 133,955w), it centers around the Jenny&Faith friendship, with background Calendiles and Fuffy romances and lots more Scooby friendships. I love it very much as a story where all Scoobies are cute and cherishedand bi & Faith can have nice things and grow as a person.
* The Watcher Watch Diary '98 by Gilescandy (M for flashbacks, 29,238w) is all about a strong Giles & Willow & Xander & Cordelia & Oz friendship, with a hint of Giles/Willow romantic feelings that I thought didn't really get in the way (as someone who isn't passionate about this ship).
* The Problem with Kindly Interventions by Quinara has a special place in my trope-subversion-loving heart. Dawn&Andrew, G, 1094w.
* Most of the Shadow'verse by Ladycat (47 K words between 19 works, the relevant ones are rated G), such as "Shadow Comfort", "Taffy", "Be Sober", "Softest Flight", etc., has wonderful Spike&Dawn gen post-s5, and other friendship goodness.
* And for your regularly scheduled Barbverse re-reccing, I especially adore the Spike&Dawn in The Road to Byzantium (17,247w, T), My Baby Is a Centerfold (13,504w, T), and A Dark and Stormy Night (4072w, G), and there's some wonderful Spike&Xander, such as in Just Desserts (470w, G) and Mightier Than the Sword (11,777w, T).
